SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Warriors defeated Sewanee (Tenn.), 2-1, on Friday in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) action, ending a four-game losing streak in the series while picking up their first win at Puett Field since 2015.
Hendrix (3-6-2, 2-2-1 SAA) moved into a tie with Centre (Ky.) for third place in the league standings. The Warriors face the Colonels on Sunday at 1:30Â p.m. CT in the second of three-straight road games to end conference play.

Zack Roberts.Â
Following a 48-minute lightning delay during halftime,
Jake Nelson (2) scored what proved to be the game-winner at the 57:08 mark. Severin Velasco (5) converted a penalty kick 23 seconds later, but
James Leone (3-5-1) was forced to only make one save the rest of the match, coming with 21 seconds to play, to preserve
Matt Kern's first victory in five tries against his former squad.
"I am really happy for our group to come away with three points against a good Sewanee team in very difficult conditions," Kern said. "The first half I thought we were the better team and deserved the 1-0 lead. In the second half, Sewanee outplayed us, and the game was in the balance until the final whistle. I am proud of Will and Jake for each getting a goal, Zack for organizing the central defenders and James for playing well in goal."
Kristian Reed ended with three shots in the win. Kelton and Nelson each had two shots. Both of Kelton's were on frame. Reed and Nelson each had one shot on goal.
Leone totaled two saves in 90 minutes between the pipes.
The Warriors held an edge in corner kicks, 4-3.
Evan Poole had four shots for Sewanee (6-6-1, 2-3 SAA), which saw its two-game win streak come to an end.
J.P. Furman (6-6-1) made two saves in 90 minutes in net in defeat.
