Smith Ford Match Preview: Emory Nat. Invite day one

CONWAY, Ark. - Hendrix takes part in the two-day Emory (Ga.) National Invitational, starting Friday with matches against the 11th-ranked Eagles at noon CT on WoodRuff P.E. Center Gymnasium court one and Washington and Lee (Va.) at 3 p.m. on court two.

Along with live statistics, the first match is televised online via PrestoSports. Live statistics are available for the second match through PrestoSports.

ABOUT HENDRIX

The Warriors won at Millsaps (Miss.) in five sets by scores of 14-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-20, 15-8) on Sunday in the Southern Athletic Association finale. The Warriors improved to 17-5 all-time in the series, including 6-3 in true road matches, having won the last six-straight instances. Camryn Presley delivered her eighth double-double this season with 14 kills and a season-high 24 digs for Hendrix. Sadie Walker added 12 kills and a 0.333 hitting percentage. Peyton Nance came up with a career-high 23 digs. Claire Smith dished out 27 assists and Kyler Greenlee 19. 

The Warriors are 4-4 in true road matches and 1-2 in neutral site matches.

Newberry's 17-member squad is represented by four states - Arkansas (8), Texas (5), Tennessee (3) and California (1).

ABOUT EMORY

The Eagles are coming off a five-set victory at Randolph-Macon (Va.) by scores of 13-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-21 and 15-13 in University Athletic Association action. Alana Dawson led the Eagles in kills with 14 followed by Tara Martin (13), Lily Martin (11) and Roisin O'Dowd (10). Emory hit .231 as a team. Lauren Bandera and Deborah Hong reached double figures in digs with 25 and 10, respectively.

Emory has won six-straight matches.

The Eagles are 9-0 at home.

ABOUT WASHINGTON AND LEE

The Generals are coming off a three-set victory at  Eastern Mennonite State (Va.) by scores of 25-18, 25-12 and 25-20 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action. Sydney Heifner notched a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs. Katy Blain had eight kills on a 0.500 hitting percentage with two blocks. Ashley Webb recorded 26 assists, five digs, three kills and two aces. 

Washington and Lee has won seven-straight matches.

The Generals are 8-0 in neutral site matches.
