Williams ties Hendrix match records for BA and TB

ATLANTA - Hendrix dropped its first two matches Friday in the Emory (Ga.) National Invitational inside Woodruff P.E. Center Gymnasium. The Warriors lost to the 11th-ranked Eagles in four sets by scores of 18-25, 25-16, 25-13 and 25-22 before falling to Washington and Lee (Va.) in four games by scores of 23-25, 25-14, 25-18 and 25-23.

In the first match, Tara Martin had 13 kills for Emory (20-3), one of three players in double figures. Madison Cail added 12 kills and Alana Dawson 11. 

Lauren Bandera came up with 18 digs for the Eagles. Cassie Srb dished out 45 assists.

Camryn Presley recorded 11 kills for Hendrix, while Avery Stephens had 10. Peyton Nance came up with 15 digs. Claire Smith netted 18 digs and Kyler Greenlee 15.

The Warriors' eight total blocks tied for seventh most in a four-set match in program history.

In the second match match, Katy Blain totaled 15 kills for Washington and Lee (23-6), one of three players in double figures. Sydney Heifner posted a double-double with 13 kills and as many digs. Carson Allsteadt had 11 kills. 

Caroline Gard came up with 21 digs for the Generals, while Allie Buchholz had 10. Ashley Webb dished out 46 assists. 

Sadie Walker totaled 11 kills for Hendrix (12-11). Presley narrowly missed a double-double with nine kills and 10 digs. Nance registered 22 digs. Smith dished out 23 assists and Greenlee 15.

Catalina Williams tied the Warriors' single-match records for block assists and total blocks with nine. Walker, Presley and Grace House each had four block assists, Lauren Whitehead three and Loren Payne two.

Hendrix tied for the second most block assists in a match in program history with 26. The 14 total blocks tied for second most in a match in program history.

The Warriors conclude play in the Emory National Invitational on Saturday against Randolph-Macon (Va.) starting at 12:30 p.m. CT.
