Smith Ford Match Preview: Sewanee

CONWAY, Ark. - Hendrix travels to Sewanee (Tenn.) in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) action Sunday at noon CT.

ABOUT HENDRIX

The Warriors are coming off a 3-1 loss at Centre (Ky.) on Saturday in SAA action by scores of 25-23, 18-25, 25-23 and 29-27, snapping Hendrix's nine-match win streak in the series. Loren Payne tallied a season-high 14 kills for Hendrix (9-7, 6-3 SAA), while Sadie Walker chipped in 11. Claire Smith poured in a double-double with 11 digs and 17 assists. Camryn Presley narrowly missed a double-double after totaling nine kills and 11 digs to go along with three service aces. Sam Friedl netted a season-high 30 digs. Kyler Greenlee dished out 21 assists.

Sunday's match marks the final time for three seniors - Walker, Smith and Mallory Carty - to appear on the court in their home state of Tennessee.

Hendrix ranks second in the SAA and 66th nationally in attacks per set (37.02).

Friedl is second in the SAA and 91st nationally in digs per set (4.93).

Newberry's 17-member squad is represented by four states - Arkansas (8), Texas (5), Tennessee (3) and California (1).


ABOUT SEWANEE

The Tigers are coming off a 3-0 loss at home to Emory (Ga.) on Saturday by scores of 25-17, 25-21 and 25-22. Ellie Pedersen recorded eight kills on 16 attacks and a 0.500 swing percentage. Lilly Reilly had 14 digs, while Adele Cassidy added 13. 

Sewanee is 3-4 at home this season.


LAST MEETING

Hendrix swept Sewanee on Sept. 18 inside Grove Gymnasium in the SAA opener for both teams. The Warriors won by scores of 25-21, 25-21 and 25-18 to improve to 15-4 all-time in the series.

The Warriors' Brittany Newberry picked up her 50th-career win.

Walker paced Hendrix offensively with 11 kills and a 0.346 hitting percentage. Friedl came up with 14 digs and Presley 10. Smith dished out 16 assists, while Greenlee recorded 15.

Reilly and Anna Ball each had 14 digs, while Cassidy came up with 12. Kaylee Scharfman netted 25 assists.
