Village HUB Game Preview: Berry

CONWAY, Ark. - Hendrix hosts Berry (Ga.) on Sunday for a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) contest at Warrior Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. CT.

Admission is free, but due to COVID-19 safety protocols, capacity is limited to 75 percent, or 270 fans. Registration for tickets is only available online. The gate at the venue opens 30 minutes prior to kickoff. Individuals who are not vaccinated against COVID-19 are strongly encouraged to wear masks outdoors when six feet of physical distance cannot be maintained. All fans must enter through the gate between the parking lot and field closest to the north goal. Reserved seating in a grandstand between the pressbox and south goal exists for Hendrix students. Spectators must stay off the field before, during and after each game and must vacate the venue immediately following its conclusion. No interaction with student-athletes is permitted at the game site.

Along with live statistics, the game is televised online via the Warrior Sports Network. Updates are also available on the official Hendrix women's soccer Twitter account (@HendrixWSoccer).

Prior to Sunday's game, four Warriors - Anna Claire Lewis, Skylar Baker, Mary Helen VanHoy and Katy Abramowitz - who are graduating in 2021-22 will be recognized for their dedication to the program.

ABOUT HENDRIX

The Warriors are coming off a 2-0 win over Oglethorpe (Ga.) on Oct. 8 in SAA action at Warrior Soccer Field. The Warriors won their fourth-straight game over the Stormy Petrels and improve to 8-1-1 all-time in the series, remaining unbeaten (8-0-1) in the last nine affairs. Hendrix dominated the second half, outshooting Oglethorpe 14-1 in the period and scoring both of its goals after halftime. Anna Grace Eichenberger scored in the 53rd minute following passes from Brianna Willis and Avery TaylorJulia Dick buried home an insurance goal in the 68th minute. Each goal was the first in the collegiate career of Eichenberger and Dick. Eichenberger tallied a season-high seven shots, including two on frame. Kaitlyn Gilkey totaled six shots, with three on net. Zoey Montgomery added a pair of shots on goal. Hendrix ended with 22 shots, including 10 shots on goal. Lewis earned the win between the pipes with one save in 90 minutes. With 8.4 career saves, she moved into third place on the school's all-time list. Lewis also moved into sole possession of fourth place on the program's all-time list for games played by a goalkeeper. 

Sunday marks the last of four-straight games at Warrior Soccer Field.

Hendrix's five-match win streak is tied for its longest since 2018.

Trimble's 19-member squad is represented by five states - Arkansas (14), Texas (2), Louisiana (1), Tennessee (1) and Oklahoma (1).


ABOUT BERRY

The Vikings are coming off 2-0 loss at Rhodes (Tenn.) on Oct. 8 in league action. Maggie Jones recorded four saves in net in the loss.

Sunday is the last of four-straight road games for Berry.

The Vikings are 3-5 on the road this season.



LAST MEETING

Hendrix lost at Berry, 1-0, in SAA action on March 26, 2021. 

Christin Marijanich scored the only goal 29 seconds before halftime.

Sydnee Pritchett shot attempt in the 76th minute hit the crossbar, and Hendrix was unable to find the equalizer down the stretch.

Kirbi Mathews totaled three shots on goal for the Vikings.

Jones played the first 85:31 between the pipes before giving way to Emily Lafferty for the final 4:29.

Lewis recorded three saves in 90 minutes in net for the Warriors.



THE THROW IN

Hendrix is currently in a three-way tie for first place in the SAA with No. 15 Centre (Ky.) and Rhodes.
