Hendrix won its fourth-consecutive game inside Grove Gymnasium, matching its best start at home since the 2017-18 campaign after limiting Mississippi University for Women to just 18.2 percent shooting in the second and third quarters in a 58-46 win Friday. The Warriors defeated the Owls for the second time in 24 hours.
Madi Pierce ended with 24 points in the victory, her ninth-straight game in double figures. She shot 56.3 percent (9-of-16) overall, 50 percent (3-of-6) from 3-point range and 3-of-3 from the free throw line. Pierce also had six rebounds, two steals and a block.
Kennedi Burns and 
Caroline Wendt each scored seven points in the triumph. Burns made both free throw attempts in addition to grabbing eight rebounds. Wendt was 3-of-4 from the stripe to go along with seven boards.
Pierce and Burns each recorded three offensive rebounds.
Mia Maxwell had six points in the win and was perfect (3-of-3) inside the paint. 
Kelsey Korb also scored six.
Maxwell and 
Jayla King recorded five rebounds apiece.
Wendt dished out four assists, while King and 
Alicia McCloria each had three.
Hendrix (5-5) outscored Mississippi University for Women (1-11) 30-8 in the paint. The Warriors shot 36.7 percent (22-of-60) overall and 88.9 percent (8-of-9) from the free throw line. Hendrix totaled 15 assists on 22 made field goals, held an edge in bench scoring (14-4) and outrebounded the visitors 39-34, including 16-11 on the offensive glass, leading to an edge in second chance points by the same margin.
Rokila Wallace tallied a double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds in defeat, going 13-of-17 from the free throw line.
The Owls shot 26.1 percent (12-of-46) overall, 18.8 percent (3-of-16) from distance 82.6 percent (19-of-23) from the stripe.
With the game tied at nine, McCloria put together her own 8-0 run to end the first quarter and begin the second. Consecutive treys and a layup, coming 24 seconds into the second stanza, put the Warriors in front 17-9. A Wendt layup with 1:55 on the clock gave Hendrix its largest lead of the first half, 27-16.
The Warriors led 27-20 at intermission after owning the restricted area, outscoring the Owls 12-0 in the paint in the first 20 minutes. Hendrix outrebounded Mississippi University for Women 20-14, including 8-3 on the offensive glass, leading to six second chance points. The Warriors got 10 points from their reserves, including eight by McCloria, compared to just two by the Owls.
Hendrix limited the Owls to 2-of-11 shooting from the field in each of the second and third quarters and a 1-of-11 mark from beyond the arc through the first three periods.
Leading 27-22, the Warriors put together a 15-1 run in a span of 6:10 in the third quarter to blow the game open, with 10 points coming in the paint. Pierce scored seven points during the stretch, and Burns added five.
 
A Korb layup with 2:18 left in the period gave Hendrix its largest lead of the contest at 19, 42-23. A Maxwell basket in the paint less than a minute later kept her team's upper hand at 19, 44-25, and the Warriors took a 44-27 advantage into the fourth quarter.
Hendrix twice led by 19 points in the final stanza and by no less than 12.
The Warriors travel to Arkansas State on Dec. 19 for their second exhibition against a Division I program this season. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. CT.
