BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - No. 8 Birmingham-Southern (Ala.) rallied from a one-run deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat No. 25 Hendrix, 5-2, in the Warriors' first game Saturday at Striplin Field. The Orange and Black lost their second contest to Centre (Ky.), which is receiving votes, 12-5.
In game one,
Drake Herrera and
Rail Gilliam each went 2-for-4 with a RBI for Hendrix.
Jack Hodgins (0-1) suffered the loss on the the mound, allowing three earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts in 6.1 innings.
In game two, Herrera, Gilliam and
Travis Hurn each had two hits. Gilliam drove in two runs.
Rally Miller scored twice.
Nathan Silva (0-2) was tagged with the defeat, giving up five runs, four earned, on three hits with eight strikeouts and four walks in 5.1 innings pitched.
Hendrix (1-3) committed three errors.
