HOOVER, Ala. - No. 25 Hendrix and Rhodes (Tenn.), which is receiving votes, split a doubleheader Sunday, as the Warriors took two of three games in the series. The Orange and Black lost the first game Sunday, 13-1 in seven innings, before winning the rubber match, 7-3.Â
In game one,
Drake Herrera,
Tyler Beard,
Zach Marriott and
Kyle Kirk each had a hit for the Warriors. Kirk crossed home plate once.
Andrei Stoyanow (1-1) suffered the loss on the mound, allowing three earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts and three walks in five innings.
In game two,
Tyler Webb had two hits for Hendrix (3-6).Â
Beard and
Tom Flisk each scored twice.
Flisk and
Jake Burton each drove in two.
Kyle Wellman (1-1) picked up the win, surrendering three runs, one earned, on six hits with eight strikeouts and two walks in 8.2 innings pitched.
Jacob Wagner threw a third of an inning of perfect relief.
