BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Hendrix erased a two-goal deficit but came up short in a 3-2 loss at Birmingham-Southern (Ala.) on Saturday at Goldfarb Field at Berylson Park in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) opener for both teams.

Coleman Jennings scored the first two Birmingham-Southern (5-2, 1-0 SAA) goals in the 38th and 45th minutes. Jennings' (8) second goal of the match came off an assist by Caleb Pruett.

Danny Kern (1) scored the first goal of the season for Hendrix (0-2, 0-1 SAA) with one second remaining in the first half off a free kick from 20 yards out. Kern beat Adrian Weiss just 27 seconds after Jennings' goal and cut the Warriors' deficit in half at intermission.

In the 53rd minute, a ball deflected off of Pruett and into the back of the net, tying the affair at two, but Christian Hernandez (2) scored the game-winner in the 61st minute.

Jennings had eight shots.

Weiss (5-2) went the distance between the pipes and made four saves.

Kern and Jack Nolen each recorded two shots.

Josh Neuman (0-2) played the entire match in goal for the Orange and Black and netted three saves.

Hendrix's home opener comes March 20 against Millsaps (Miss.). Kickoff from Warrior Soccer Field is set for 3 p.m. CT.
