CONWAY, Ark. - Kennedi Burns, Madi Pierce and Kessie Jenkins each scored in double figures Friday, propelling Hendrix to a 70-60 win over Centre (Ky.) inside Grove Gymnasium in the first of two Southern Athletic Association (SAA) games between the teams in a 24-hour span. The Warriors snapped a four-game losing streak to the Colonels.

Burns finished with a game-high 25 points on 8-of-16 shooting overall, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range, and a 6-of-8 effort from the free throw line to go along with six rebounds.

Pierce narrowly missed out on a double-double but poured in 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting and four (4-of-6) made 3s, all career-highs. She also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.

Jenkins added 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting inside the arc plus five boards.

Anissa Gutierrez dished out a career-high seven assists in the victory. Caroline Wendt pulled down eight rebounds. Rachel Woppman had a pair of blocks.

Hendrix (1-10, 1-10 SAA) shot 44.8 percent (26-of-58) overall, 42.9 percent (9-of-21) from beyond the arc and 9-of-14 from the free throw line. The nine made treys tied for most this season.

The Warriors outrebounded Centre (3-6, 3-6 SAA) 39-29, including 10-5 on the offensive glass, and held an edge in points in the paint, 28-22.

Payton Harold had 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting in the loss. Abigail Wehby had 10 points.

The Colonels shot 41.2 percent (21-of-51) overall, 23.1 percent (3-of-13) from distance and 15-of-23 from the stripe.

Hendrix overcame an 11-point, second-quarter deficit with a 23-5 spurt, including 11-0 to begin the run. A Cassidy Salyer triple tied the game at 27 with 6:03 left before halftime. A Pierce trey as time expired gave her team a 39-32 advantage at intermission.

The Orange and Black's lead swelled to as much as 10 in the third quarter following a Burns layup less than three minutes into the period and as many as 12 in the fourth after a Burns 3-pointer with 2:46 to play.

With the win, Hendrix also snapped losing streaks of 35-straight in SAA contests, 33 games overall and 22-consecutive at home.

The two teams conclude their seasons Saturday. Tip-off for Jenkins' final game of her career is set for 1 p.m. CT.
