Scott goes yard twice; Hendrix crushes Millsaps in DH

JACKSON, Miss. - UR/No. 25 Hendrix swept the first two contests of a four-game series with Millsaps (Miss.) on Saturday at Twenty Field. The Warriors won game one 14-4 in seven innings and game two 14-7.

Hendrix (9-19, 6-12 SAA) has won three-straight against Millsaps (7-21, 5-13 SAA) and seven of the last nine in the series.

In game one, J.P Medick went deep on a two-run shot in the sixth. Justin Scott, Zach Marriott and Rail Gilliam each had a double.

Marriott, Drake Herrera and Travis Hurn recorded three hits apiece. Medick drove in four, and Hurn three. Marriott, Gilliam and Hurn each scored three times.

Jack Hodgins (2-3) pitched five innings for the win, allowing three earned runs on nine hits with four strikeouts and three walks.

The Warriors tied a season-high with 18 hits.

Jon Dale Dieckman ended 3-for-4 in the loss. 

Chambers McGilberry (0-3) took the loss on the mound, surrendering five earned runs on eight hits with a strikeout and walk in just three innings.

In game two, Scott belted two homers, a solo shot in the third and two-run bomb in the sixth, each to left field, as the Warriors jumped out to a 14-0 lead midway through the sixth. Herrera and Marriott each had a double.

Herrera ended 3-for-5 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Scott drove in three and crossed home plate four times.

Teddy Olander (2-3) went six innings on the mound for the victory, giving up three runs, two earned, on three hits with four strikeouts and a walk.

Will Neely had two RBIs in defeat. Nathan Chilton scored twice.

Wil Wood (1-6) was tagged with the loss after allowing seven runs, five earned, on nine hits with six strikeouts and a walk in four innings pitched.

Millsaps committed four errors, while Hendrix had two.

The Warriors and Majors conclude their four-game series with a doubleheader Sunday starting at noon CT.
