RV Hendrix splits DH with Rhodes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Hendrix, which is receiving votes in the latest Top 25 rankings, split a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) doubleheader with Rhodes (Tenn.) on Saturday inside Mallory Gymnasium. The Lynx upset the Warriors in the first match in five games by scores of 27-25, 13-25, 25-16, 20-25 and 15-10. The Orange and Black rebounded to win the second match in four sets by scores of 21-25, 25-16, 25-23 and 25-15.

Hendrix (7-5, 7-5 SAA) improved to 7-1 in its last eight matches against Rhodes (3-9, 3-9 SAA) and wrapped up the No. 4 seed for the SAA Tournament semifinals April 17. The Warriors travel to top-seed and No. 6-ranked Berry (Ga.), with first serve set for 3 p.m. CT.

In the first match, Shayla Garrison, Kelsey Glasper and Gabriele Kozik each recorded a double-double for the Lynx. Garrison totaled 15 kills and 13 digs, Glasper had 13 kills and 21 digs and Kozik netted 11 digs and 25 assists. Gabrielle White and Kathryn Chambers came up with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Marissa Hall had 26 digs, and Brenna Weyant  put up as many assists.

Maddie Tovar and Loren Payne each recorded 16 kills, as five Warriors ended in double figures, along with Camryn Presley (11), Sadie Walker (10) and Grace House (10). Presley also came up with 25 digs for a double-double performance. Kyler Greenlee also poured in a double-double with 13 digs and 31 assists. Jeanette McGrath netted 24 digs and MaKenzie Presley 15. Claire Smith dished out 27 assists.

In the second match, C. Presley went off for 21 kills and a .563 hitting percentage. Payne added 12 kills. McGrath had 20 digs, while Greenlee had 10 plus 25 assists for another double-double to go along with four service aces. Smith served up 14 assists.

Garrison had a double-double with 15 kills and 13 digs. White recorded 10 kills. Hall had 19 digs, and Glasper added 12. Weyant dished out 23 assists, while Kozik had 16.
