Corey Johnson have been hired as athletic trainers for Hendrix, supervisor for athletic training services

For the first time, the Warriors have five full-time athletic trainers as Monagan, Slone and Johnson join
Ryan Most and
Brooke Miller.
"I am very excited about our staff additions for the 2021-2022 athletic seasons," Carruth said. "As the collaborative effort between Conway Regional Health System and Hendrix enters its third year, we will have by far the most experienced staff ever assembled to serve the student-athletes of Hendrix. Tom and Stephen bring a wealth of experience to the staff while Corey, who completed her internship with Conway Regional's outreach athletic training staff, is an outstanding young professional. We are looking forward to returning to campus and preparing for a new year of athletics."
Monagan will serve as the primary athletic trainer for Hendrix men's and women's basketball, baseball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's golf and men's and women's esports.

Monagan most recently served as head athletic trainer at Case Western Reserve (Ohio) in 2020-21. He was the primary athletic trainer for football, men's basketball and softball. Monagan oversaw three full-time assistants and 45 students in the sports medicine minor academic program.
Monagan was a COVID-19 action team member at Case Western Reserve and assisted in the development and implementation of all related policies and procedures for physical education, intercollegiate athletics, intramural and club sports and campus group activities. He was the contact tracer for University Health Services.
Monagan also served as head athletic trainer at Colorado College from 2017-20, UT Dallas (Texas) from 2010-17, Nebraska Wesleyan in 2000-01 and 2002-03 and Blackburn (Ill.) from 1997-2000. He was an athletic trainer at Central Arkansas from 2006-10, Saint Bonaventure in 2005-06, Division II Gannon (Pa.) from 2003-05 and for the Bradenton Marauders, the Low-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, in 2001. Monagan was a graduate assistant for Eastern Illinois in 1996-97.
In his career, Monagan has served as the primary athletic trainer for football, men's and women's basketball, softball, baseball, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis and women's lacrosse.
Monagan was voted NCAA Division III Head Athletic Trainer of the Year in 2017 by the National Athletic Trainers Association and University Athletic Trainers Committee. He earned the Excellence in Athletic Training Award from the Southwest Athletic Trainers Association in 2016 and oversaw the Training Staff of the Year in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in 2017-18 and twice in the American Southwest Conference (2012-13, 2016-17).
Monagan was selected to work as the athletic trainer for the National League in the 2001 Gulf Coast League All-Star Game.
Monagan has been a board certified athletic trainer since 1996.
Monagan earned a Bachelor of Arts in physical education from John Carroll (Ohio) in 1996 and a Master of Science in physical education from Eastern Illinois in 1997.
Monagan, a Rochester, N.Y. native, attended the Aquinas Institute of Rochester.
Slone will serve as the primary athletic trainer for Hendrix softball and secondary athletic trainer for football and men's and women's swimming and diving.
"I have never been happier to accept a position," Slone said. "It is an absolute pleasure to return to the great state of Arkansas and work with Hendrix, a college with such a proud and prestigious history, and the Conway Regional Health System."
Slone most recently served as director of sports medicine at Missouri-Saint Louis (UMSL) in 2020-21. He was the primary athletic trainer for men's and women's basketball and volleyball. Slone oversaw two full-time assistants and as many student workers.
Slone assisted in the development and implementation of all COVID-19-related policies, procedures and testing for UMSL intercollegiate athletics and worked to establish and maintain a CLIA certified testing site on campus.
Slone also served as director of sports medicine at former NAIA member Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) from 2015-20 and associate head athletic trainer for the Lynx from 2012-15. He was a graduate assistant at Central Arkansas from 2010-12.
In his career, Slone has served as the primary athletic trainer for football, men's and women's basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's track and field and rugby.
Slone has been a board certified athletic trainer since 2010.
Slone earned a Bachelor of Science in athletic training from Lindenwood (Ill.) in 2010 and Master of Science in kinesiology from Central Arkansas in 2012.
Slone, a McCrory, Ark. native, attended McCrory High School and graduated as valedictorian.
Johnson will serve as the primary athletic trainer for Hendrix men's and women's soccer, men's and women's swimming and diving and beach volleyball.

Johnson most recently served as a student assistant at Central Arkansas from 2019-21 working with the football, men's and women's basketball, baseball, volleyball and women's soccer programs.
Johnson earned a Bachelor of Science in health and exercise science from Northwestern State in 2018 and a Master of Science in athletic training from Central Arkansas in 2021.
Johnson, a Bossier, La. native, attended Bossier High School.
