Hendrix drops season opener to UWRF

CONWAY, Ark. - Hendrix dropped its season opener to Wisconsin-River Falls, 49-33, on Saturday at Young-Wise Memorial Stadium.

Kole Hinrichsen ended 24-of-36 passing for 218 yards and three touchdowns for the Falcons. He also rushed 12 times for 67 yards.

The Falcons compiled 514 yards of total offense, including 296 on the ground. Anthony Silva rushed 17 times for 116 yards and a touchdown. Luke Fugate had 112 yards on 19 carries with two scores. Ben Beise added a score on the ground.

Beise caught nine balls for 55 yards. Silva, Fugate and Andy Groebner each recorded a receiving touchdown.

Kwashon Collins had three tackles for loss, two sacks and a forced fumble for Wisconsin-River Falls (2-0). Aaron Borgerding picked off two passes.

Jacob Wood was responsible for 334 of Hendrix's (0-1) 380 yards of total offense. He set career highs is completions (23), attempts (42), passing yards (272), passing touchdowns (3) and tied a career-high in rushes (17). Wood had 62 yards on the ground and a touchdown.

Caleb Williams rushed nine times for 38 yards for the Orange and Black. His touchdown came on a 31-yard scamper midway through the second quarter.

Chris Childress posted career-highs in receptions (9), receiving yards (150) and receiving touchdowns (2) for the Warriors. Colton Phillips grabbed five balls for 60 yards. Christian Gadison caught four passes for 40 yards and a touchdown.

Mitchell Johnson made a career-high 13 stops with 1.5 tackles for loss for Hendrix. Jacob Bremmon and Tanner Barrett also tallied career-highs in tackles with 11 and 10, respectively. Bremmon had a tackle for loss. Joshua Cole recorded 1.0 tackles for loss, and Timothy Curran had 0.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage. Dalton Lindelof broke up two passes, while Riley McMurren and Matthew Scirto each deflected one.

Tajae White compiled a career-high 209 yards in returns, with 177 coming on kickoff returns, including a long of 60. He also returned a punt 21 yards.

Hendrix faces Howard Payne (Texas) on Sept. 18 at Children's Health Stadium in Prosper, Texas. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT.
