Warriors Now 2-2 in SAA Play, Dropping to Sewanee and Centre

CONWAY, Ark. - Hendrix hosted two conference matches this weekend against Sewanee and Centre. They battled two tough teams but were unable to generate the result they wanted.

On Friday night, the Warriors started off the scoring, with a goal from Sydnee Pritchett and an assist from Brianna Willis. However, the Tigers quickly picked up their intensity and equalized the score. At halftime the score was 1-1, however coming out of the halftime break, Sewanee had much more intensity and created ample opportunities, resulting in two more goals. About halfway through the second half, senior center back and captain Julia Dick was moved into the midfield. She was able to create some dangerous opportunities and utilized the speed and crossing of senior outside back and fellow captain Willis, however the effort was unable to translate in a goal for the Warriors.

On Sunday Morgan Baltodano got her first collegiate conference start. Both teams came out with similar level of intensity, however with Centre's forwards playing high up on the Warrior back-line, they were able to create some dangerous situations. The first goal for the Colonels came in the 12th minute, and after that Hendrix began to step their line up and draw offsides calls on Centre. Sydney Wagner had a great performance in the midfield, creating some of the beginning passes for the opportunities that the Warriors had. Going into halftime, the Warriors were only down by one. However early in the second half, Centre was able to find two more opportunities from balls over the top and get up 3-0. In the 54th minute, the Warriors earned a corner taken by Emily Seymour that created a dangerous lower right corner opportunity from Sydnee Pritchett that almost made the back of the net. After that Centre picked up their game and were able to put the fourth and final goal away in the 78th minute.

The Warriors will be back in action on Tuesday as they head to Longview, Texas to play LeTourneau. The will continue on the road next weekend as they play two conference games against Oglethorpe and Berry.
