Pierce, McCloria, Wendt post double-doubles

CONWAY, Ark. - Hendrix's Madi Pierce, Alicia McCloria and Caroline Wendt posted double-doubles despite their team's 92-80 loss to Birmingham-Southern (Ala.) on Friday in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) action inside Grove Gymnasium.

Audra Putman finished with 16 points to lead four Panthers in double figures. She shot 6-of-7 overall and 4-of-4 from 3-point range. Josie Wannemuehler ended with 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including a 3-of-5 mark from deep. McKenna Buckner and Brooke Westhoelter had 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Birmingham-Southern (13-8, 7-4 SAA) shot 38.2 percent (34-of-89) overall, 32.7 percent (17-of-52) from deep and 43.8 percent (7-of-16) from the foul line. The Panthers totaled 22 assists on 34 made field goals.

Pierce ended with a game-high 18 points and 10 rebounds, her seventh double-double this season and 10th of her career. She shot 4-of-6 from the free throw line.

McCloria and Wendt notched their first-career double-doubles, as each player scored 10 points. The 10 points was a season-high for Wendt.

McCloria recorded a game-high and career-best 13 boards. She was 4-of-4 from the charity stripe. Wendt pulled down 11 rebounds, including six on the offensive glass.

Kennedi Burns narrowly missed a double-double after totaling 13 points and nine rebounds. She shot 4-of-8 inside the arc.

Pierce, Wendt and Blysse Harmon dished out four assists apiece, as Hendrix (7-14, 1-9 SAA) totaled 19 on 27 made field goals.

Hendrix shot 34.6 percent (27-of-78) overall and attempted 34 free throws, making 22. The Warriors outrebounded Birmingham-Southern 61-53, including 22-21 on the offensive boards, leading to 18 second chance points. Hendrix held an edge in points in the paint, 40-30.

Prior to the the contest, Wendt, Rachel Woppman and Zoe Mojaver were recognized as part of Senior Night festivities.

The Warriors' final game this season inside Grove Gymnasium takes place Feb. 13 against Millsaps (Miss.). Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. CT.
