RV/NR Hendrix wins series against DePauw

CONWAY, Ark. - RV/NR Hendrix split a doubleheader with DePauw (Ind.) on Saturday to win the three-game series. R.J. Thomas' squad dropped the first contest, 9-6, before rebounding for an 8-6 victory, improving to 12-1 at Warrior Baseball Field.

At 13-1, Hendrix continued its best start in program history.

In game one, Cameron Allen and Brennan Roach each had three hits, two RBIs and a run scored for the Tigers, who snapped Hendrix's Division III leading 12-game win streak.

Michael Vallone (3-0) earned the win on the mound, pitching five innings, allowing one unearned run on five hits with four strikeouts and a walk. E.J. White (1) earned the save, pitching 2.2 innings of relief, surrendering four earned runs on four hits with four strikeouts and a walk.

Rail Gilliam batted 3-for-5 with a RBI for the Warriors.

Andrei Stoyanow (1-1) took the loss after pitching five innings, giving up four runs, three earned, on eight hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

In game two, Joseph Watts and Adam Bland each went yard for Hendrix. Watts (1) connected on a three-run shot to right in the first inning. Bland hit a solo shot to left in the second.

Bland, Owen Shaw and Jacob Carpentier each had two hits. Watts drove in three. Bland scored twice.

Jack Hodgins (4-0) picked up the win on the mound, going seven innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and three walks.

Allen, Roach and Kyle Callahan each had two hits.

Dylan Perrot (0-1) was hit with the loss after being chased from the mound after only an inning, giving up six earned runs on five hits with a walk on only 32 pitches.

Hendrix begins a four-game road swing with a trip to Ozarks (Ark.) on March 8. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. CT.
