MEMPHIS, Tenn. - RV/RV Hendrix swept Friday's doubleheader against Rhodes (Tenn.) and kept alive its chance of hosting a pod in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament with 11-8 and 6-2 victories. The Warriors won the series for the first time since 2019 and first time at Stauffer Field since 2016.

Hendrix (27-12, 12-8 SAA) improved to 10-3 in true road games this year and ended a three-game skid overall. Its 27 wins are second most in program history and three shy of matching the 2019 all-time mark. A Warriors' win over the Lynx on Saturday combined with two wins by No. 3/3 Birmingham-Southern (Ala.) against NR/RV Berry (Ga.) gives R.J. Thomas' squad the No. 2 seed for the SAA Tournament. The top two teams host the pod round April 28-30.

In game one, Hendrix erased a 4-0 deficit with four runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings. Rail Gilliam and Drake Job RBIs sandwiched a Juan Pablo Leon two-run double down the right field line, tying the contest. An Adam Bland RBI single to the shortstop put the Warriors in front for good. A Gilliam sacrifice fly to center and Job RBI on a fielder's choice made the score 7-4. Zach Marriott scored on a passed ball to help Hendrix double up Rhodes (22-16-1, 11-9 SAA).

A Gilliam RBI single to left and Leon fielder's choice in the top of the eighth each turned into a RBI to put their team on top 10-4. A Malcolm Rohlfing two-run single to center in the bottom of the frame cut his team's deficit to four.

In the top of the ninth, Tyler Webb (1) connected on a solo shot to left with two outs off Brett Bokelman to make the score 11-6. A Peter York (2) solo homer to right and Ben Wilson RBI single through the right side in the home half of the frame cut the margin to three, but Zach Orlando induced a pop out and fanned Gunnar Vachris to end the threat.

Gilliam and Rally Miller each had three hits. Gilliam and Leon each drove in three, while Job plated two. Bland and Miller each scored three times, while Webb touched home twice. Marriott drew three of his team's six walks.

The Warriors' Jack Hodgins started on the mound but took a no decision, going five innings, giving up four earned runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and two walks. Hodgins' fourth strikeout, coming in the third inning against Wilson, moved him past Matt Blanton for the top spot on the school's single-season list.

John Henry Fowler (3-0) earned the win with three innings of relief, allowing two earned runs on four hits with a walk.

Rohlfing and Dante Messina each had three hits. Rohlfing drove in three and Messina two. Heurtin scored twice.

Nick Ferazzi (3-4) took the loss on the mound, surrendering seven runs, six earned, on eight hits with three strikeouts, a walk and two wild pitches.

The Lynx committed two errors.

In game two, Miller started a five-run second inning with a two-run single through the left side. The half inning also featured a Marriott RBI groundout and Gilliam two-run single to left.

A Ben Burkhart (1) solo homer to left in the bottom of the second got Rhodes on the board. Heurtin scored on a balk in the fifth to cut his team's deficit to a field goal, but a Miller RBI single to center in the sixth pushed the margin back to four.

Miller ended 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Gilliam plated two. Job scored twice. Bland and Job each drew two free passes, as Hendrix, like game one, totaled six.

Andrei Stoyanow (4-1) pitched five innings for the win, allowing two earned runs on four hits with a strikeout and three walks. Jacob Wagner threw two innings of one-hit relief to go along with a pair of strikeouts.

C.J. Carron (3-3) was tagged with the loss, giving up five runs, four earned, on one hit with five walks in just one innng pitched.

The Lynx committed three miscues.

The series finale starts at 2 p.m. CT.
