CONWAY, Ark. - This weekend, the Warriors tied the 'Roos and beat the Crusaders in the Hendrix Invitational Tournament.

On Friday afternoon, the Orange and Black took on Austin College. The game was pretty evenly matched, with both teams sitting back and struggling to keep possession. The first shot came in the 10th minute from Jake Nelson and neither team had a shot until the 33rd minute for the 'Roos and in the 37th minute for Hendrix's Joseph Avila.

Coming out of halftime, the Warriors kicked up their intensity and both teams became more physical. The Warriors seemed to have the offensive advantage but were unable to connect on their crosses to put the ball into the net.

This afternoon, the Warriors hosted the University of Dallas for the final game of the Hendrix Invitational. The Warriors came out with more intensity than they did on Friday night, stringing together more passes and creating more opportunities. From the 14th through the 19th minute, the Orange and Black offense took four shots on goal and finally found the back of the net in the 34th minute when Mason Reid connected with Alex Ochoa to put the Warriors on the board. A corner kick two minutes before halftime bounced around the box before Zack Roberts got a head on it, giving Hendrix a safety goal.

Heading into the second half, the Crusaders came out with more intensity than the first half but the Warriors still held onto the offensive advantage. However, in the 80th minute, a great shot from the University of Dallas that deflected off Leone was buried in the net to put the Crusaders on the board. Following that goal, the Orange and Black primarily held possession of the ball for the remainder of the game to come out with their second win on the season. Senior captain and center back Zack Roberts was credited with the second game-winning goal of his career.

The Warriors reserve team will be back in action tomorrow evening at 7 pm CST at Warrior Soccer Field. The next game will be this upcoming Sunday as Southern Athletic Association play kicks off, with Hendrix hosting Birmingham-Southern at 3 pm CST. Live coverage for both events can be found on the Warriors Sports Network.
