Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Katy Abramowitz

Warriors Beat the Mountaineers with Goal from Avery Taylor

CONWAY, Ark. - Today the Hendrix Warriors beat the Schreiner Mountaineers 1-0 at Warrior Soccer Field.

Coming into today's match, both teams looked evenly matched on paper. Both teams beat the Ozarks Eagles 3-1 and had a win over the Austin College 'Roos. During the game, both teams were pretty evenly matched up and were applying high pressure to each other's back lines. The Warriors were able to string together a lot of great passes and had many close shots and crosses. The back line was also able to play many great balls over the top for forwards Madison Lampkin, Mackenzie Sinclair, and Sydnee Pritchett to run onto and create some dangerous opportunities and really test Schreiner's goalkeeper.

The Orange and Black were finally able to bury the ball in the net in the 77th minute. The goal came from a great through ball from Ally Ross for Jamisen Geoffrion to run onto. Geoffrion then took a shot towards the back post that was slightly deflected by the Mountaineers. Avery Taylor was making a run towards the back post and was able to bury the ball and put the Warriors on the board.

Coach Jeff Trimble was proud of the result and effort from his team. He said "I appreciate we had the resolve to get a goal. We need to be better and be much more consistent. We got the goal we needed and had some good moments that we definitely need to correct."

The Warriors will be back at Warrior Soccer Field this Tuesday as they host the Ozarks Eagles for their second match-up this year. Kick-off will be at 6 pm CST and live coverage will be available on the Warrior Sports Network beginning approximately 15 minutes before game time.
