Conway, Ark. - Hendrix entered the weekend on a rough run of form that has seen them lose their last 4 matches in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA), and it would not get any easier as they hosted #12 Berry and Oglethorpe.
Saturday (10/7) vs. #12 Berry
The Warriors dropped Saturday's match to Berry in four sets, but gave the twelfth-ranked Vikings all they could handle. After tying the match at 1-1, Hendrix went back-and-forth with Berry in the third set, one that they would narrowly lose 25-22. It was the same story in the fourth set, but after fighting off match point once to make it 24-23, the Vikings were able to clinch the match on the following point.
Camryn Kennedy,
Loren Payne, and
Camryn Presley led the Warriors with 11 kills each, with the latter tallying 2 service aces as well.
Catalina Williams and
Grace House contributed 8 and 7 kills, respectively.
Sunday (10/8) vs. Oglethorpe
On Sunday, Hendrix looked to bounce back against Oglethorpe, who came in to Grove Gymnasium with an identical conference record of 2-4, but could not repeat their high level of play from Saturday as they fell in straight sets to the Stormy Petrals.
Payne once again led the Warriors in kills with 8, while Presely and
Mariana Leite each contributed 6.Â
Up Next
It will be a quick turnaround for Coach Brittany Newberry's side, as they now head to Rhodes on Wednesday night in the reverse fixture looking to snap their losing streak in the SAA at 5 matches.
