Conway, Ark. - The Hendrix Warriors fell 64-53 to Principia on Saturday afternoon at Grove Gymnasium in the second game of their four-game homestand to cap the 2023 calendar year.
Hendrix hung tough with the Panthers through three-and-a-half quarters until a late Principia run was enough to see off the Warriors for good.
Simone Shields knocked down 1-of-2 free throws to bring Hendrix within 1 with 5:39 to play in the fourth quarter, but Principia would score 10 of the next 14 points to build enough of a lead to keep Hendrix at arms length in the waning minutes.
The loss drops Hendrix to 2-6 on the year, but have two more home non-conference games on the slate before beginning conference play with Rhodes at the turn of the year.
Shelby Heil,
Ava Knoedl, and Shields each tallied 11points in the loss, with Heil also grabbing a season-high 13 boards for her second double-double of the season.
Riley Brady finished the afternoon with 8 points and 8 boards, one day after her stellar 17-and-17 performance versus Lyon.
The Warriors will be back in action on Wednesday when they host the Dallas Crusaders in a rematch of their contest back on November 13. Tip-off is set for 12:00 PM at Grove Gymnasium.
