Conway, Ark.- The Warriors hosted University of Dallas at home for a midweek doubleheader. The Crusaders gave the Warriors two tight ballgames, but the Warriors took both games of the doubleheader by scores of 10-7 and 8-4.
Game 1: Makayla Ragland started for the Warriors and threw three innings surrendering four runs (two earned) on six hits. Kelsey Sample came in relief in the fourth inning and earned the win allowing three runs on ten hits while striking out two. This advances Sample's record to 1-4 on the season.
At the plate, the Warriors scored ten runs on twelve hits. Several Warriors had impressive showings at the plate. Tori Veith demolished a softball in the fourth inning for a solo homerun. She also doubled in the fifth to score Gabby Naples. Naples went two-for-four at the plate, doubling in the sixth. Peyton Frady notched two hits and scored twice. Kendyl Patton had a three-hit day at the plate and drove in one run. The Warriors took game 1 10-7
Game 2: Tori Veith started in the circle for the Warriors and threw four and one-third innings allowing four runs on six hits, striking out two. Emma Barrentine came in relief of Veith in the fifth and threw the last two and two-thirds innings, shutting out the Crusaders bats. She earned the win in relief; her record is now 4-0.
The lineup for the Warriors put together a solid performance with the top three hitters all having a multi-hit day. Betty Wolfe and Peyton Frady each had two hits, one of Frady's came in the form of a triple. Paizley Vaught had three hits in game 2 with one being a double. Wolfe, Frady, and Vaught accounted for five RBIs. The Warriors took game 2 by a score of 8-4. They will be back in action this weekend on the road against Berry College. Saturday's doubleheader starts at 11:00 am CST.
