Conway, Ark. - Hendrix hosted Rhodes in Conway on a bright but windy Sunday afternoon, with the Warriors looking to up their standing in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) in the 2023 regular season finale.
An offensive outbreak in the first quarter saw the I-40 rivals trade goals back-and-forth, with 8 combined goals in the first 15 minutes.
Rhodes would not trail the entire game, but saw each of their first 5 goals immediately answered by Jordan Drumheller's squad.
Klaus Rowan opened the scoring for Hendrix at the 10:48 mark to tie the contest at 1-1, before
Maximus LaMendola netted the next 4 Warriors goals, 3 of those coming in the first quarter.
Remarkably, there would be no scoring in the second quarter, as both teams entered the halftime interval in a deadlock.
The Lynx would score the first goal of the second half, which was answered by LaMendola less than three minutes afterward to make it a 5-5 game.
An ensuing four-goal run by the Lynx created some daylight between the two teams, enough that the Warriors could not overcome.
Early 4th-quarter goals from Rowan and
William Parsons made things interesting, until Rhodes put two more past the Warriors to seal the win.
The loss means Hendrix finishes the year 1-5 in the SAA. They will enter the SAA tournament as the #6 seed, and they will reunite with Rhodes next Saturday in Memphis for an SAA quarterfinal matchup.
