Memphis, Tenn.- The Warriors traveled to Memphis, Tennessee for the final weekend of Southern Athletic Association play to face off against the Rhodes College Lynx for the first time this season.
Game 1: Makayla Ragland took the circle for the Warriors to start Game 1. Ragland was good for three innings of work, allowing four earned runs on eight hits and one walk while picking up two strikeouts. Tori Veith came out in relief of Ragland in the fourth and allowed seven runs on five hits and a walk while striking out three. Kelsey Sample threw the last two-thirds of an inning, allowing one run on two hits and a walk.
As a team, the Warriors mashed four homeruns and strung together seven hits. The homeruns came from Aubrey Lee, Paizley Vaught, and Grace Bryant who clobbered two and collected five RBIs. Aubrey Lee also notched a double and an RBI, and Vaught collected a pair of RBIs. The Warriors' offense couldn't quite keep up with the bats of the Lynx, and the Warriors dropped Game 1 by a score of 8-12.
Game 2: Kelsey Sample started Game 2 in the circle for the Warriors, and she allowed three earned runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out one in three innings. Emma Barrentine threw three stellar innings, allowing just one run on two hits and a walk.
At the plate, the Warriors struggled to put together much, scoring no runs on seven hits. Three of the team's seven hits came from the bat of Gabby Naples with one being a double. Tori Veith also hit a double. The Warrior offense came up short against solid pitching on the part of the Lynx. Rhodes took Game 2 by a score of 4-0.
Game 3: Tori Veith made her second appearance of the series, this time a start. She threw four solid innings, allowing two earned runs on seven hits and two walks. Emma Barrentine followed Veith's solid performance with one of her own, going three innings and allowing three earned runs on five hits. Veith and Barrentine each notched a strikeout.
The Warrior bats got hot in the last three innings of the game, shifting the momentum of the game in their favor and surging past the Lynx. A seven-run fifth inning and three-run seventh inning accounted for all ten of the team's runs. Aubrey Lee, Paizley Vaught, and Samantha Wood each drove in two runs. Betty Wolfe, Paizley Vaught, Grace Bryant, Andie Houser, and Sam Wood were all good for multiple hits each in this contest, too. The Warriors outhit the Lynx and capitalized on their errors, handily beating them 10-5 to cap off the series.
