Wild Warrior Walk-off Win

Conway, Ark.- The Warriors hosted I-40 rival University of the Ozarks for their final bout this season. Going into Tuesday's matchup, the Warriors had won every game of the midweek series. Since their first meeting in 2013, Hendrix has been 25-11 against the Eagles, scoring 305 total runs for an average of 8.47 per game. Although the Warriors have consistently put up football scores against the Eagles, Ozarks has not lost without putting up equally ridiculous lines.

Ethan Thomas started what would be a staff day for the Warriors and dealt two shutout innings, allowing two hits. Trent Jordan followed Thomas up with an inning of work, allowing one earned run on one hit and one walk. Jackson Corrigan threw a shutout fourth inning, allowing a single baserunner on a walk. Chance Reed tossed the next inning and two-thirds. Reed was touched-up by the Eagles' offense for five earned runs on six hits and a walk. Righthander Bobby Fowler handled the next two outs, allowing one run on two hits and a walk. Nathan Silva took the hill following Fowler and recorded one out. Jacob Wagner was next out of the Warrior bullpen, surrendering two runs on two hits and one walk in one-third inning of work. Warrior closer, John Henry Fowler, closed the game out allowing one run on two hits, earning his third win of the season.

The Warrior bats were good for eighteen hits and eleven runs. Zach Marriott, Rally Miller, and David Ripple each drove in a pair of runs. Ripple's first RBI was the Warriors' first run of the game. Miller delivered RBIs in the sixth and seventh innings in an exceptionally tight ballgame. Austin Rabago, Owen Shaw, Drake Job, Rally Miller, Joseph Watts, and David Ripple all recorded multiple hits with three hits coming off the bats of Drake Job and David Ripple. Job's three hits brought his average to a solid .359 on the season which leads the team. Job's third hit of the game, a double to the right-centerfield gap, plated pinch runner Zane Nolan to tie it up in the bottom of the ninth. Job subsequently scored on a wild pitch to end the ballgame.

The Warriors advance to 23-13 on the season. They will be back in action at home on Friday at 6:00pm CST for the first game of a three-game series against #1 Birmingham-Southern College to wrap up SAA play. They will play a doubleheader on Saturday with Game 1 starting at 12:00pm CST and Game 2 at 3:00pm.
