Sewanee, Tenn. - Hendrix dropped to 0-7 in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) after an 87-80 loss to Sewanee on Sunday afternoon.
The Warriors got off to a great start by scoring 14 of the game's opening 18 points, but could not keep the home side down for long. Both teams traded baskets for the rest of the first half, with
Jonathan Ryan cutting the Tigers' lead to two heading into halftime.
Hendrix was able to tie the game at 45-45 early in the second half via a
Colten Berry layup, but that would be the closest the Warriors got to Sewanee for the rest of the contest, as the Tigers continued to hit big shots in critical situations to keep Hendrix on the backburner.
Darvis Rasberry, Jr. led all scorers with 20 points, a new career-high for the junior.
Daniel Cobb and
Jonathan Ryan also finished in double-figures with 12 and 10, respectively.
The loss drops Hendrix to 3-15 (0-7 SAA), and they will now return home to start the second half of the conference schedule with a home SAA doubleheader versus Centre and Sewanee. Tip-off versus the Colonels is set for 8:00 PM on Friday evening at Grove Gymnasium.
