Jackson, Miss. - All credit to Hendrix for sticking to the bit, as Friday's result over Millsaps marked the fourth-consecutive match in which the Warriors have won 2-0 after going winless in its first five matches of the 2024 season.
The first half ended scoreless thanks in large part to
James Leone, who recorded four saves while Hendrix was unable to threaten the Majors' goal in the opening 45 minutes.
But it was
Matt Kern's side who opened up the scoring as
Will Kelton scored from the spot with 15 minutes gone in the second half. It was the graduate student's first goal of the season.
Jensen Pechar added his fifth goal of the season 3 minutes from time to secure the win and the three points.
Holt Bliss' corner found
Conner Smith, who knocked it on for Pechar to tuck home.
It was Hendrix's fourth consecutive win over Millsaps after starting out 0-13 versus the Majors in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA).
After winning four on the bounce, the Warriors improve to 4-3-2 (1-0 SAA). They will head to Rome, Ga. next Friday for a date with the Berry Vikings.
