Memphis, Tenn. - Hendrix rallied after losing the opening two sets to beat Rhodes 3-2 in an epic five-set win at Mallory Gymnasium on Friday evening.
After dropping the first two sets 25-14, 25-18, the Warriors kept the match alive with a 25-19 win in the third set. Rhodes went on a 3-point run midway through the set to trim Hendrix's lead to 17-16, but the Warriors responded with a 5-point run to get it to 22-16 to effectively see off the third set.
With the two teams level at 18-18 in the fourth set, Hendrix took 7 of the next 8 points to force a fifth set.
The Warriors jumped out to a 6-3 lead early in the final set, but the Lynx won 6 of the next 7 points to take a 9-7 lead. With the score at 12-9 in favor of the home side, Hendrix went on a 4-point run to take a 13-12 lead. After the Lynx tied it at 13-13, the Warriors won 3 of the last 4 points to complete the comeback and get revenge over their I-40 rivals.
Riley Brady led the Warriors with 14 kills. The sophomore hit a remarkable .500 on 24 total attacks, and contributed 2 service aces and 3 blocks to boot. Her 12 digs were second on the team behind Mary Addisyn Stubb's 13.
Perri Evans and
Ana Bastos also finished in double-figures with 11 and 10 kills, respectively.
Adilynn Henry finished the match with an impressive 27 assists.
Hendrix (8-9, 2-1 SAA) will now head to Jackson, Mississippi tomorrow to take on Millsaps.
