Memphis, Tenn. - Hendrix jumped out to an early 14-0 lead versus Rhodes but could not hang on to win on Saturday evening at Crain Field as they suffered their first loss in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA).
The Warriors jumped out early with two touchdowns.
Josh Hayes led Hendrix down the field on its opening possession and found
Jax Johnson in the endzone for the game's opening score.
Hendrix then ended the first quarter with a 12 play, 94-yard drive that was capped off by an
Auvic White rushing touchdown.
Rhodes then scored three consecutive touchdowns. The Warriors blocked the point-after on Rhodes' third score, and
Jaden Davis returned it for a two-point score.
After the Lynx took a 28-16 lead, Hendrix responded with two unanswered touchdowns, both courtesy of White, to take a 29-28 lead.
But the Lynx would answer with 00:44 remaining for the game's final score to clinch the win.
White finished with a game-high three touchdowns, which tied a single game career-record for the junior.
Kanyn Utley recorded a second-consecutive 100+ yard performance receiving, going for 105 yards on 8 receptions.
Hendrix (3-2, 2-1 SAA) returns home to host the Berry Vikings next Saturday at Young-Wise Memorial Stadium.
