Conway, Ark. - Cries of "Corn dogs, Jackie! Corn dogs, for all these people!" rang out at Grove Gymnasium as Hendrix eclipsed the 60-point mark to defeat Arkansas Baptist 76-57 on Saturday afternoon.
Hendrix entered Saturday's contest knowing they'd have to hit at least 60 points on the afternoon to earn everyone in attendance at Grove Gymnasium free corn dogs in a nod to Will Ferrell's Semi-Pro. The 60 points looked all but certain as the Warriors jumped out to a 22-9 lead early.
Ava Knoedl scored the first 12 points for Hendrix with three triples and a layup. The senior was a perfect 8-of-8 from the field in the first half and 5-5 from behind the arc.
The Warriors took a 24-point lead into halftime and didn't look back en route to a 19-point win over their in-state foe.
Hendrix shot 42.4% from the field and 47.6% from three-point land, including going 5-of-10 from behind the arc in the second quarter.
Riley Brady finished with 12 points and 13 rebounds to record another double-double. Brooklyn Row tallied 8 points with a couple of triples.
Abby Sutton notched a career-high 6 points with a trio of tidy finishes in the paint. First-year players
Marlena Davis and
Sophie Eble finished with early career-highs in points with 4 and 2, respectively.
Hendrix improves to 6-4 on the season. They will get a couple weeks of rest before hitting the road to take on the University of Dallas on December 20 in Irving. The Warriors defeated the Crusaders 91-81 earlier in the season in Conway.
