Fond du Lac, Wis. - The Hendrix Warriors braved through a snowy afternoon on the shore of Lake Winnebago to earn a 6-5 road win over the Marian Sabres.
The win marks Hendrix's second road win of the season, which is already the most in a single season for the Warriors since 2019.
Alaina Palmer got the scoring started in the first quarter, assisted by
Lillian Sonner, with Sonner then tacking on a second just a minute later.
The Sabres would find the net twice to equalize midway through the first quarter before
Peyton Refling netted three unanswered goals to give the away side a commanding 5-2 lead.
Marian responded with three unanswered of their own, tying the affair at 5-5 just a few minutes into the second half.
The game suddenly became a stalemate until Refling broke the tie once again, this time for good, with the winning goal off a free position shot at the 7:28 mark in the fourth quarter. Hendrix would hold on from there to secure a crucial win and continue the momentum off of last weekend's 20-0 shutout of Mount St. Joseph.
Addey Bolz recorded 9 saves for a .643 save percentage.
Palmer finished the afternoon with a point and ten groundballs, which ranked second on the afternoon just behind Refling's eleven.
Asia Mackey recorded an assist in her debut for her first collegiate point. The freshman also caused four turnovers and scooped up eight groundballs.
The win improves Hendrix to 2-1 on the year, and they will now head to Chicago to square off with Illinois Tech on Sunday afternoon. The Warriors defeated Illinois Tech last season 16-12 in the first matchup between the two schools.
