Chicago, Ill. - Hendrix dropped the second match of its road trip up north to Illinois Tech (IIT) on Sunday afternoon.
After falling behind 1-0 early, the Warriors got two goals in quick succession from
Alaina Palmer and
Peyton Refling to take a 2-1 lead.
However, five unanswered goals from the Scarlet Hawks put Hendrix behind the eight ball, where they would stay for the rest of the contest.
The Warriors scored three of the next four goals courtesy of Refling,
Lillian Sonner, and
Eliza Thacker to trim IIT's lead to 7-5, but that would be the closest the away side got for the rest of the afternoon as IIT proceeded to net the next six goals and retake a commanding lead.
Refling led the Warriors with six points on five goals and one assist. Palmer followed that up with a five-point performance (3 G, 2 A).
Thacker and Sonner finished the afternoon with two points each.
The loss drops Hendrix to 2-2 on the year, and they will now head east to begin conference play with a primetime Friday night contest against the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels.
