Warriors Drop 19-15 Decision to Southwestern

Georgetown, Texas - Hendrix closed out its weekend trip to Texas with a 19-15 loss to Southwestern on Monday night at Varsity Field.

Hendrix surrendered three goals in the opening three minutes of the contest before Austin Williams got the Warriors on the board with a man-up goal assisted by Maximus LaMendola.

Nick Quarles netted his first of the game at 5:47 in the first to bring the score to 4-2.

The Pirates then scored three unanswered to jump out to a 7-2 lead.

Hendrix scored four of the next five goals courtesy of Quarles, LaMendola, and Mathew Parsons to trim the home side's lead to two.

After five unanswered Pirate goals, Jet Long and Quarles both scored in the final two minutes of the first half to bring the score to 14-8.

LaMendola and Quarles scored the first two goals of the second half late in the third quarter.

Fourth quarter goals from Quarles, Williams, and LaMendola kept the score close in the final stretch, with Williams' goal at 2:52 left in the final period cutting Southwestern's lead to two. However, Southwestern would put two more past the Warriors in the final minutes to put the game away.

Quarles led the Warriors with a game-high six goals. LaMendola tallied a game-high eight points on four goals and four asssits.

Williams finished with three goals and an assist. His three goals ties a career-high for the sophomore.

Ian Domeika recorded eleven saves in goal on thirty shots faced.

Hendrix (4-4) returns home to open conference play on Friday night versus Oglethorpe. The Warriors will be celebrating Senior Night, as well as dedicating their game with the Stormy Petrels to the One Love Foundation.
