Hendrix Swept by Lyon in Saturday Doubleheader

Batesville, Ark. - Hendrix dropped both games of its doubleheader with in-state foe Lyon on Saturday afternoon.

Game 1 (L, 4-3)
After falling behind 1-0 in the 1st inning, the Warriors responded in the 6th with a Betty Wolfe RBI single to score Tori Maldonado and level the game at 1-1.

Lyon would scratch three more across in the next half inning to put the pressure back on the away side.

Maldonado singled to center field in the top of the 7th to score Andie Houser and Layton Rogers, but Hendrix was unable to bring in the tying run.

The Warriors got two outstanding performances in the circle from its pitching staff. Sadie Lewis got the start and pitched a gem, surrendering one unearned run in 4.0 IP of one-hit ball. Betty Wolfe entered in relief and tossed 2.0 IP with no earned runs and only two hits.

As a team, Hendrix outhit the Scots nine to three but committed three errors in the field.

Game 2 (L, 3-1)
Fortunes at the plate were reversed in the second game as Lyon outhit the Warriors nine to three, although it was the away side that struck first this time as Wolfe scored after Ashylnn Fowler was able to reach first base on a throwing error.

Lyon would plate two runs in the 5th and another in the 6th to secure the Saturday sweep.

Hendrix was limited offensively due to some strong pitching from the Scots as they could only muster one run on three hits while striking out eight times.

Up Next
The losses drop Hendrix to 2-6, and will return to Conway for a midweek contest with Ozarks (Ark.) before beginning conference play next weekend on the road at Centre.
