Softball Drops Midweek DH to MUW

Columbus, Miss. - Hendrix was swept in their midweek doubleheader with the Mississippi University for Women (MUW) on Thursday afternoon.

Game 1 (L, 2-1)
Betty Wolfe's two-out RBI triple drove in Sam Wood for the tying run in the top of the 7th to keep the game alive at 1-1, but MUW then produced some two-out magic of their own with a walk-off in the next half inning to take Game 1.

Wolfe led the Warriors with two hits in four at-bats.

Ashlynn Fowler got the start in the circle and was outstanding, limiting the Owls to one run on three hits in six innings of work. Emma Salis (L, 1-2) was the pitcher of record after entering in relief and surrendering the winning run.

Game 2 (L, 7-0)
The Warriors were blanked in Game 2. They gave up three runs in the bottom of the 1st, and two more in the 4th.

The Owls tacked on two more in the 5th inning for a 7-0 lead. Hendrix went down in order in the 6th, and were unable to take advantage of Tori Maldonado's two-out single in the 7th en route to a Game 2 loss.

Wolfe produced another two-hit performance. Maldonado tallied two hits as well.

Sadie Lewis (L, 1-4) was the pitcher of record in Game 2, surrendering seven runs on eleven hits in six innings of work.

Up Next: Hendrix will return to Conway to host in-state foe Lyon on Saturday for an afternoon doubleheader. First pitch of Game 1 is scheduled for 1:00 PM at Warrior Softball Field.
The Scots took two from the Warriors in Batesville back on March 2.
