Atlanta, Ga. - Two days after opening the start of play in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) versus Oglethorpe, Hendrix returned to Oglethorpe Lacrosse Field for a rematch with the Stormy Petrels, this time in a non-conference contest.
Hendrix kept up with Oglethorpe in the early-running with goals from
Peyton Refling and
Asia Mackey to head into halftime tied at 4-4.
Third-quarter goals from Refling and
Lillian Sonner kept the Warriors tied heading into the fourth quarter, but that is where the wheels began to fall off for the away side.
Oglethorpe scored the first five goals of the final period to take a commanding 11-6 lead. Refling and
Sophia Smith netted consolation goals near the end, but it would be enough as the Stormy Petrels took Sunday's rematch 13-8.
Mackey led the Warriors with five points on two goals and three assists, while Refling finished with four goals.
Kinley Robinson added an assist.
Addey Bolz got the start in goal and made fifteen saves on twenty-eight shots on frame.
The loss drops the Warriors to 2-4 (0-1 SAA). They will head to Montgomery, Ala. next Saturday for a non-conference tilt with Huntingdon.
