Baseball Routs Oglethorpe on Senior Day

Conway, Ark. - Hendrix celebrated Senior Day on Saturday in quite the fashion, scoring a season-high 19 runs in their shutout, run-rule win over Oglethorpe to cap their weekend sweep of the Stormy Petrels.

The Warriors scored early and often as the first five hitters in the order all reached before Owen Shaw sent a 2-RBI double to center field to score the second and third runs of the inning. Hendrix would take a 5-0 lead into the 2nd inning.

After Bryson Bales put the visitors down in order in the top half of the 2nd, Hendrix plated two more runs on four hits.

Shaw bagged two more RBIs in the 4th inning with a moon shot to right field for his first long ball of the season to make it a 9-0 game. It was the first home run of the year hit by a Warrior at Warrior Baseball Field.

Hendrix blew it wide open with a 7-spot in the 5th inning, kick-started by a 3-RBI double by Adam Bland. Zach Marriott kept the party going with a 2-RBI single to centerfield before Charlie Deaton got in on the action with a 2-RBI double for a 16-0 lead.

Joseph Watts scored on a wild pitch in the 6th, and Diego Alvarado recorded his first two RBIs of the weekend to score Shaun Pope and Drake Job for the Warriors' final two runs.

Bland and Shaw led the Warriors with 3 hits each, while Shaw and Marriott each recorded 4 RBIs.

Bales (W, 3-2) was the pitcher of record after a dominant outing with 5.0 scoreless innings of 3-hit ball and 6 strikeouts.

Jack Hodgins and Teddy Olander entered in relief and each tossed a scoreless frame.

Up Next: Hendrix (22-12, 12-6 SAA) will host East Texas Baptist on Tueday before heading to Danville, Ky. to square off with Centre to end league play in a battle of the top two teams in the conference and play for the #1 overall seed in the SAA Playoffs.
