Sewanee, Tenn. - Hendrix dropped the first leg of its Southern Athletic Association (SAA) road trip out east with an 18-6 defeat at Sewanee on Friday night.
After surrendering the opening goal of the game to the Tigers,
Nick Quarles evened the scoring at 1-1 at the 8:06 mark.
But the Warriors would not find the net again until just under the midway mark in the second quarter when
Maximus LaMendola scored his first goal of the evening at 9:06. Hendrix was held scoreless for the rest of the half and entered into the halftime break trailing 11-2.
LaMendola added two more in the third to stop a Tiger 10-0 scoring run
Quarles scored the opening goal of the fourth period off an assist from
Klaus Rowan to make it a 16-5 contest. LaMendola added his fourth with 3:40 left to play, but it would prove to be academic in the end as the Tigers closed out the 18-6 win.
Ian Domeika recorded 17 saves in goal. Kellen Harger entered in relief midway through the final period and recorded a save.
Michael DeCaro was 10-27 on face-off attempts and led the Warriors with five ground balls.
