Marshall, Texas - Hendrix defeated Willamette (Ore.) and Huntingdon on Friday evening to open the ETBU Invitational hosted by East Texas Baptist.
Willamette (W, 3-0)
Hendrix took their opening match versus Willamette in straight sets.
Camryn Kennedy and
Ana Bastos each recorded 10 kills to lead the way.
The Warriors breezed to a 25-15 win in the first set, but had to work in the second set and successfully fended off a set point at 23-24 to come back and win it 27-25. Hendrix clinched the match in the third set with a 25-20 score.
Catalina Williams tallied 6 kills, while
Riley Brady and
Perri Evans each had 5 kills.
Adilynn Henry and
Lily Meyer combined for 30 assists.
Hendrix hit 16.8% as a team with 40 total kills and 21 errors. Kennedy and Williams each hit 23.1%.
Huntingdon (W, 3-1)
The Warriors dropped their first set of the weekend to open their match with Huntingdon, but responded well to come back and claim the match in 4 sets.
Kennedy and Bastos picked up where they left off with another dominant offensive performance with 26 kills between the two. Williams one-upped herself from the first match with 7 kills. Evans and Marianna Leite each recorded 6 kills.
Henry and Meyer had big matches once again with 23 and 15 assists, respectively.
As a team, the Warriors hit 20.% to Huntingdon's 13.3%.
