Conway, Ark. - Hendrix was defeated 88-63 by Williams Baptist on Tuesday evening at Grove Gymnasium in the Warriors' final contest before the Thanksgiving holiday.
It was the second time the two in-state teams had seen each other this season after the Warriors traveled up to Walnut Ridge for an exhibition match to begin the year.
The Eagles raced out to an early 24-9 lead before the second media timeout of the first half, and continued their hot shooting throughout the half, leading by as many as 29. Williams Baptist shot a blistering 60.0% from the field and 42.86% from behind the arc in the opening 20 minutes. All things considered, Hendrix shot fairly well in the first half as well, going 10-of-29 from the field and knocking down 5-of-14 from three-point range.
Hendrix cooled off significantly from long range in the second half, hitting on only 2 of 21 attempts, and their season-long struggles from the free throw line continued on Tuesday.
Eli Lovelady was a bright spot for
Anthony Boone's squad, scoring a career-high 15 points and going 6-of-14 from the field. Lovelady was the only Warrior to register double-figures on the night. He and
Rowdy Robinson both recorded 3 steals defensively. The latter also had 3 points, a block, and an assist in limited action in his season debut after returning from the football season.
Hendrix (0-5) will get a bit of rest before heading to Memphis on December 6 for the away leg against former SAA rival Rhodes.
