Memphis, Tenn. - Hendrix was defeated 80-67 on Tuesday afternoon by Westminster (Mo.) in their final nonconference tuneup before league play begins at the start of the new year.
The Warriors (0-9) came out of the blocks firing, taking a 23-11 lead midway through the half, but were unable to capitalize on their hot start. After the Blue Jays cut the lead down to two, Hendrix went on a 7-0 scoring run to get the lead back up to 9. But from there, the Warriors' offensive engine began to sputter, as Westminster scored 16 unanswered points to take a 37-30 lead. It was a lead the Blue Jays would hold onto for the remainder of the afternoon.
Hendrix was able to cut the lead back down the seven at the 17:40 mark of the second half, but that was the closest they would get to their opposition. Westminster would go up by as many as 18 in the second half and stayed strong down the stretch to see off a 13-point victory.
Eli Lovelady led the Warriors with 12 points, going 6-of-7 from the field.
Kyle Roach and
Jaxon Herrera each finished with 11 points, with Herrera knocking down 3-of-8 three-point attempts.
Hendrix was outrebounded 45-37 on the afternoon, while both teams committed 18 turnovers.
The Warriors will return to action on January 2 as they head to Clarksville to take on in-state foe Ozarks for their 2025-26 conference opener.
