Hot Springs, Ark. - Hendrix and Champion Christian met for the first time in program history on Thursday night, with the Tigers winning the contest 76-56.
Riley Brady led the Warriors with 10 points and 10 rebounds to mark her first double-double of the season. The junior made her second appearance of the season after returning from volleyball and gave
Wes Sullivan's side 20+ minutes off the bench.
Brooklyn Rowe added nine points on 3-of-6 shooting from behind the arc, and
Natalie Edmonson knocked down two triples of her own to finish with 7 points.
The two teams traded buckets in the opening minutes of the first half, and a
Bella Cates three-ball at the 1:50 mark brought the Warriors' deficit down to two with the score at 14-12 before Champion rattled off the final four points of the quarter to take an 18-12 lead into the second frame.
Edmonson's two threes came in the second quarter with Hendrix trailing by double-figures for most of the period.
Chloey-Rei Brown's layup with under thirty seconds left to play brought the lead down to ten as the two teams went into halftime.
The third quarter belonged completely to the home side as they out-scored Hendrix 25-14 in that ten-minute span. The Tigers led by as many as 23 and took a 24-point lead into the final quarter.
The Warriors did manage to outscore Champion 9-2 down the stretch to bring the final deficit to 20, with
Ava Scott scoring her first three career points on a free throw and a tip-in during that run.
Looking ahead, Hendrix (1-3) will remain on the road and head to Memphis on Saturday to take on former SAA rival Rhodes for a 3:00 PM tip at Mallory Gymnasium.
