Women's Lacrosse Dominates in Weekend Sweep

Conway, Ark. - After a season-opening loss to Culver-Stockton, Hendrix breezed to a weekend sweep of the Illinois Institute of Technology and Southwestern over the weekend at Young-Wise Memorial Stadium.

IIT (W, 16-3)
Hendrix started fast on Friday versus IIT, scoring right off the draw control as Peyton Refling put the Warriors up 1-0 within the opening 20 seconds. Kinley Robinson doubled the Warriors' lead a couple minutes later by taking advantage of the man-up situation.

After the Scarlet Hawks scored to halve the deficit, Hendrix scored 7 unanswered goals to take a 9-1 lead. Kasha Graham would score her second goal of the game with 1:47 left in the second quarter to send Hendrix into halftime with a 10-2 lead.

Refling scored two unassisted goals coming out of halftime to put the mercy rule into effect. She would score twice more in the final five minutes of the game to end the night with six goals.

Addey Bolz recorded 5 saves en route to her first winning decision of the season.

Southwestern (W, 15-4)
Hendrix went up 2-0 in the first quarter against the Pirates thanks to goals from Refling and Eliza Thacker. Sophia Smith tacked on a third early in the second quarter before Southwestern got two goals back. Celina Owens-Campbell and a brace from Kinley Robinson put the Warriors up 6-2 heading into halftime.

Refling added another goal five minutes into the second half, and Robinson scored back-to-back goals in the final five minutes of the third period to put the Warriors up 9-3. After the Pirates made it 9-4 late in the third quarter, Refling scored her third goal of the match to give Hendrix a six-goal lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The Warriors dominated the final period, scoring five unanswered goals to clinch the 15-4 victory.
