Box Score Jackson, Miss. - Hendrix women's basketball was defeated 78-68 by Millsaps on Sunday afternoon at the Hangar Dome.
Riley Brady led the Warriors with 21 points and 8 rebounds.
Hendrix started out well with Brady scoring 6 of the Warriors' 8 in the first quarter. Her layup at the 4:58 mark put Hendrix up 8-5. The Majors would then score 12 unanswered to take a 17-9 lead as part of 14-2 scoring run to close out the quarter.
The Majors took a 26-13 lead early in the second quarter, but Hendrix responded with a 6-0 run with
Simone Shields,
Ava Knoedl, and Brady leading the charge. However, Millsaps was able to dull Hendrix's momentum and take a 39-27 lead into halftime.
Trailing by 9 midway through the third quarter,
Megan Gray was good from distance to cut the Majors' lead to 6, but Millsaps answered right back with another 12-0 scoring run to put the Warriors down by 18. They would lead by as many as 21 before Gray and
Natalie Edmonson were able to cut the deficit to 18 heading into the fourth quarter. Millsaps maintained a healthy double-figure lead in the final period despite the Warriors' best efforts to wittle down the lead.
Knoedl finished with 16 points and 6 boards.
Hendrix (8-15, 1-9 SAA) now returns home for their final two games of the regular season. They will host Centre on Friday night at Grove Gymnasium before wrapping up the regular season on Sunday versus Sewanee.
