Marshall, Texas - Five days after upsetting the 9th-ranked East Texas Baptist Tigers in Conway, Hendrix got roughed up in the return fixture, dropping a 15-6 decision to ETBU.
Connor Bryson got the ball to start the afternoon and allowed 7 runs on 3 hits in 0.1 IP before exiting.
Chance Reed entered in relief and allowed 2 runs on 4 hits but was finally able to record the final two outs of the inning.
Shaun Pope got the Warriors on the board in the top of the 3rd with a
Shaun Pope solo shot. ETBU would tack on another couple of runs in the bottom of the 4th on a pair of solo shots to make it 11-1.
Hendrix put up a five-spot in the 5th inning with
Owen Shaw,
Giancarlo Digiacomo, and
Austin Rabago ripping RBI doubles to pull the Warriors to within five runs of the Tigers. In the bottom of the 7th, the Tigers whacked another couple of solo shots out of the park and added two more runs in the 9th to ease to a 15-6 win.
Preston Tompkins impressed in his four innings on the mound. The freshman struck out four hitters and scattered three hits in 4.0 IP.
Hendrix (6-4) will now gear up for conference play in the Southern Athletic Association as they return to Conway to host Sewanee on Friday and Saturday for the conference-opening series.
