Conway, Ark. - Hendrix closed out the nonconference season with an emphatic 24-9 win over Centenary on Saturday afternoon at Young-Wise Memorial Stadium.
Austin Williams opened the scoring three minutes into the first quarter with an unassisted goal. After Centenary tied the contest a couple minutes later, Williams assisted
Jack Conley to give Hendrix its lead back. The Gents scored again at the 4:20 mark to make it 2-2, but Williams retook the lead at the 2:11 mark with his third point of the game.
Nick Quarles gave Hendrix another goal just a minute later to double the lead before Centenary scored at the buzzer to trim Hendrix's lead to one heading into the second quarter.
The first ten minutes of the second period belonged to Hendrix as the Warriors raced out to an 11-3 lead thanks to goals from Conley, Quarles, and
Klaus Rowan. Centenary then scored four unanswered to make it 11-7, but Hendrix remarkably scored two goals in the final six seconds to increase their lead. Quarles scored with six seconds remaining with an assist from Conley.
Michael DeCaro then won the ensuing faceoff and quickly found Conley, who rifled in a long-range effort as time expired for his fifth goal of the game.
Hendrix scored five unanswered goals in the third quarter to take a commanding 18-7 lead and outscored the Gents 6-2 in the final period to put a bow on the game and cap off a stellar offensive effort.
Conley led all scorers with ten points on seven goals and three assists. Quarles tallied nine points off six goals and three assists, while Rowan notched eight points on four goals and four assists.
Ian Domeika earned his third winning decision in the cage and made five saves on the afternoon. Kellen Harger made two saves in relief of Domeika.
