Atlanta, Ga. - Hendrix improved to .500 in conference play on Friday night with a dominating 18-10 win over Oglethorpe.
Joseph Davis put the Warriors up in the first minute play. Hendrix then got back-to-back goals from
Jack Conley and
Austin Williams to go up 3-0. On the ensuing faceoff,
Michael DeCaro made it three goals in thirty seconds after winning the ground ball and taking it all the way to goal for a 4-0 lead. Conley took advantage of a man-up opportunity just a minute later and scored his second goal of the contest to score the Warriors fifth goal in as many minutes.
After Oglethorpe got on the board at the 10:23 mark,
Nick Quarles responded with his first goal of the night to retake the five-goal lead.
Matthew Parsons made it 7-2 at the 3:14 mark, and Quarles scored his second goal with a minute remaining in the first period to put the Warriors up 8-2 going into the second.
Klaus Rowan opened the second period with a hat trick, and
Austin Williams bagged his second goal with ninety seconds remaining in the half to give the Warriors a 12-3 lead going into halftime.
The Stormy Petrels outscored Hendrix 5-3 in the third quarter, but Davis, Williams, and Rowan each netted goals in the final period to put the game well out of reach and secure their first conference win of the season.
Conley backed up his first SAA Offensive Athlete of the Week award with another stellar performance, tallying six points on four goals and two assists. Rowan finished right behind him with four goals and an assist.
Hendrix (3-6, 1-1 SAA) remains on the road and will take on Berry College on Sunday at Valhalla.
