Baseball Swept by Berry in Road Series

Rome, Ga. - Hendrix suffered a series sweep at the hands of Berry this weekend.

Game 1 (L, 7-6)
Hendrix battled back from an early 2-0 deficit to take a 4-2 lead, highlighted by RBI hits from Zane Nolan and Austin Rabago. After the Vikings tied the game at 4-4 in the sixth inning, Joseph Watts and Hogan Ralston put the ball in play in the top of the seventh to give the Warriors a 6-4 lead. Berry responded in the home half of the inning with a two-RBI single. The two offenses shut down over the next two innings to send the game into extras, where the Vikings walked it off in the eleventh inning to win the series opener.

Nolan and Rabago led the Warriors with two hits and an RBI apiece.

Game 2 (L, 8-1)
Hendrix drew first blood in the second half of Saturday's doubleheader on an RBI single from Nick Echaniz in the top of the second. The Warrior bats went dead from there as the Vikings blanked Hendrix over the next five innings while scoring eight runs to take the second game and the series.

The Vikings outhit the Warriors 14-6. Giancarlo Digiacomo led Hendrix at the plate with a 2-for-3 day.

Starter Aiden Leggett struck out four hitters in three innings of work.

Game 3 (L, 19-6)
The Warriors were run-ruled in the series finale, surrendering thirteen runs in the first four innings en route to a blowout loss.

Hendrix scored two runs in the third inning on an Ian Guthrie two-RBI double. Trailing 13-2 in the fourth, the Warriors scored four more on a Nick Echaniz RBI single and a three run shot from Joseph Watts. The wheels then fell completely off in the fifth inning as Berry scored six runs in the fifth to bring the run-rule into play.

The series sweep drops Hendrix to 5-7 in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) as they fall outside of the top four. They will head to Oglethorpe next weekend for their penultimate conference series of the season.
