Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Handled by #3 Emory

Conway, Ark. - Hendrix hosted their most decorated opponent in quite some time as they welcomed the third-ranked Emory Eagles to Warrior Soccer Field on Saturday evening. Josh Montgomery wrote his name onto the score sheet in the first half but Emory would eventually prevail 5-1 in what proved to be a comfortable match for the visitors.

Emory scored two goals inside of six minutes to start the first half, but Montgomery was on the mark just a couple minutes later as he rose high to head home a Bryce Robinson cross at the far post to halve the deficit.

The Eagles added a third halfway through the first half, and the air was let out of the game in the 26th minute when Holden Jayaram saw red for a second yellow card offense. Hendrix managed the rest of the match admirably after going down the ten men, but were never able to truly threaten Emory's goal outside of another Montgomery effort late in the second half. Emory finally put the game to bed with two goals in the final ten minutes.

The Warriors managed just three shots on goal over the 90 minutes, whereas Gregorio Medina Armas recorded 9 saves in a career day for the freshman, including several superb saves to keep Hendrix in the match.

Hendrix falls to 1-3-1 on the year. They will remain in Conway to host Central Baptist College on Tuesday at Warrior Soccer Field as a final non-conference tuneup before heading to Irving, Texas on Friday to take on the University of Dallas.
